After two postponements, the long-awaited PPV lightweight clash between former world champions Tevin Farmer (30-5-1, 6 KOs) and Mickey Bey (23-3-1, 11 KOs) seemed like it would finally take place on Friday night at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott, Arizona.
However, in a bizarre situation, after four undercard bouts were completed it was announced that Farmer-Bey and the super middleweight co-feature between unbeaten Lorenzo “Truck” Simpson (11-0, 7 KOs) and Tyi Edmonds (14-4, 9 KOs) were simply CANCELED with no explanation given.
In bouts that did take place, super bantamweight Tramaine Williams (20-1, 6 KOs) took a hard-fought ten round unanimous decision over Jetro Pabustan (31-10-6, 9 KOs). Scores were 95-94, 96-93, 97-92. Pabustan was deducted a point for a low blow.
Featherweight Keenan Carbajal (24-3-1, 16 KOs) knocked out Aelio Mesquita (21-8-1, 19 KOs) with a right hand in round three. Mesquita was counted out at :58.
Unbeaten flyweight Mohammed Aryeetey (7-0-1, 5 KOs) and Jeronil Borres (11-7-2, 6 KOs) battled to an eight round draw. Scores were 78-74 Aryeetey, 79-73 Borres, 76-76.
Local junior middleweight Daniel Hilton (3-0, 3 KOs) scored a quick first round KO against Isaac Sifuentez (0-6). Hilton battered Sifuentez to a knee where he took the full count. Time was 1:20.
I was there. It was disgusting promotional event. They couldn’t get the fights to occur so that attendees would keep ordering their $10 beer.
Did you receive your money back for the tickets?
No
These 2 should retire, they serve no purpose in the game.
Rip-off……..
Long awaited? By who, garbage fight. Put it in the trash and move on
Who was the promoter of this show?
“Sweet Science Promotions” out of Arizona.
wowe whut da u think…
Wow, again? Maybe these promoters are drinking the same water as Fury.
Poop promotions cancels a poop co-main & Main Event. These guys are washed and need to move on with their lives. Obviously they didn’t make any money in their career and are fighting for 5-10k now. Bey is notorious for getting online and talking about his bad boxing has done him yet he won’t give it up. They need to walk away while they still have good health.
as a boxing fan for over 50 years this fight is certainly long awaited.
