Red Bull are pulling out all the stops to build excitement for RB Leipzig’s Bundesliga campaign.
David Coulthard drove Red Bull Leipzig footballer Emil Forsberg through Leipzig in a Formula 1 two-seater ahead of the start of the Bundesliga season.
While the Formula 1 team is perhaps Red Bull’s most well-known major sporting outfit and the most successful, it’s by no means their only one.
A few years after first entering their own F1 team, the company bought German fifth-tier football club SSV Markranstädt, renaming them RB Leipzig.
The project has been a huge success since then with the side not only making it to the Bundesliga but becoming one of the division’s top teams, finishing inside the top six each season since promotion.

Red Bull will be hoping their outfit can win the league for the first team in the 2022/23 campaign, and to build excitement for it, had former driver Coulthard drive Forsberg through the city.
The Scot didn’t do so in any old car, driving F1 machinery that was converted to fit two seats as well as a V10 engine.
The pair went past all of Leipzig’s major sights, and Coulthard says he’s a big fan of what he feels is an up-and-coming city.
“It’s the closest you can really get to giving a passenger the sensation of what it is to drive a Grand Prix car,” he said.
“This is my second time in Leipzig. It’s a cool, young university city. There’s just an energy and a vibe here that really makes it feel it’s coming up.”
Forsberg meanwhile was blown away by his first-hand experience of F1 machinery, feeling it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“It was an incredible experience for me to drive through Leipzig with David in a Formula One car,” said the Swede.
“You experience something like that maybe once in a lifetime. The feeling and the sound in the racing car are insane – a pure adrenaline rush.”

With expectations high around the football club for the upcoming campaign, it could turn out to be an enormously successful time for Red Bull.
They currently lead both championships comfortably in F1 and will surely claim their first title double since 2013 courtesy of Max Verstappen.
RB Leipzig will have to put together quite the season if they’re to become champions too with Bayern Munich so strong, but with the money the company have invested in the club, it’s by no means impossible.
