Kick-off at The Sportsground is at 7.35pm on Friday 14th October.
What’s the state of play so far?
Connacht come into the game on the back of an impressive win against Munster, which was the first game on the new artificial surface. The win was Connacht’s first this season in the BKT URC.

How’s our recent record against them?
Leinster have had the upper hand in this fixture over the last few seasons with Connacht’s last win over the Eastern province coming in the 2020/21 season.
Our last meeting at The Sportsground was in the Heineken Champions Cup last season, the first of two legs which Leinster won 26-21 in front of a packed house.

Rhys Priestland says it was crucial that Cardiff showed their fighting spirit during Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship win over Scarlets.
The Welsh international wore the number 15 jersey at Parc y Scarlets, as a Tomos Williams try proved decisive in the Blue and Blacks’ win over the hosts.
The playmaker was pleased with the character shown by the squad in Llanelli and believes they were rewarded for their ability to stay in the fight, despite second half pressure from the hosts.
“After the start we’ve had to the season, it was so important that we, probably not won but just showed a bit more fight in us,” said Priestland.
“I can’t remember being part of the Cardiff team that has shown more fight than we did today. The attitude we showed today was great.
“It’s a pleasure to be a part of that on the field. We’d like to think that every game we can show that.
“Last Friday [against Lions] was very disappointing and you’re going to have games or periods in games where you don’t play well.
“But then you have to show that fight we showed tonight. It wasn’t perfect, and we had our backs against the wall for most of the second half, but we hung on in there and that’s sometimes more important than the way you play.
“That’s how you grind out victories and stay in games. It’s a very competitive league but if you show that fight for 60-70 minutes, you might nick a game at the end.
“That’s what the best teams in the league do. They don’t always play well but they’re always in the game and that’s probably something we’ve lacked, certainly since I’ve come to the club.”
Next up for the Blue and Blacks is the visit of Dragons RFC to the Arms Park on Saturday.
With Cardiff heading into the encounter with 13 consecutive league victories over the Gwent outfit, Priestland expects a fierce challenge and insists Cardiff must be at their best on Saturday.
“The Dragons are much improved this year. They were excellent against Munster,” added the Welsh international.
“They look like a team that’s very much improving and it’s funny sometimes what a change can do.
“We were lucky to win at Rodney Parade last year and they will definitely be coming down with a spring in their step, thinking they can get a victory.
“I know we’ve had a good run against them over the last few years but it’s going to be a huge challenge for us next week against a much improved Dragons team.
“Some of the resolve that we showed in the second half, derbies quite often are not classic games, and that’s what it will come down to.
“Who is going to jump on the loose ball, put their body on the line and willing to put their shoulder in. We’ll need to repeat that aspect of the game next week and hopefully improve on them again, particularly when we have ball-in-hand.
“We showed good glimpses of that in the first half but in the second half it was very much backs against the wall.”

A resolute BBCo Director of Rugby, Jake White remains upbeat about the road ahead, emphasising that his charger’s loss in Scotland does not cast a ‘doom and gloom’ spell for the remainder of the season.
“The beauty of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship is that there are no guarantees, it is a tough competition but just because we have lost to Glasgow does not mean that it is the end of the season for us. Last season, this time, we had lost three and still, we managed to pick ourselves up and work our way to the finals,” comments the Vodacom Bulls mentor.
The Pretoria outfit were outmuscled 35-21 (on Saturday) by a well-mannered Glasgow Warriors outfit in front of a packed Scotstoun Stadium. Despite the loss, White pointed to some of the positives gained from the clash.
“We scrummed very well, with the likes of Simphiwe Matanzima who hasn’t had much game time because of his leg injury; but I am glad he came through for us. Our second front row really played well too, scrumming well, and that bodes well for the next game.”
After round 4 of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, the Vodacom Bulls (now) sit fifth on the table, five points adrift from table toppers, Leinster.
White highlights the need to be patient as his young team develops and learns by applying their trade.
“We cannot fast forward age, we cannot fast-track experience… but the positive thing about where this team is (currently) is that they are learning and in four years’ time, when we have Jan-Hendrik Wessels, Mornay Smith, Gerhard Steenekamp, ElrighLouw, RuanNortjé, Kurt-Lee Arendse (and many others)all on 100 Vodacom United Rugby Championship caps, we will be a power side.”
“But that does not mean we are going to lie down; it just means we put this (loss to Glasgow) in our memory bank and find ways as the coaches and players to get better” he concluded.
The Vodacom Bulls will next lace their boots against Munster on Saturday 15 October 2022. An encounter that the BBCo Director of Rugby predicts will be a good test for his young side.
“Munster have a lot of international players and so we will have to up our game. They have also lost three of their last four games, so it is not going to be easy but we will work things out together (as coaches and players) and prepare to move forward. We put our heads together and get a team together that (we think) can beat Munster.”
The fixture at Thomond Park will kick-off at 20:35pm South African Time. The match will be broadcast LIVE on SuperSport Rugby.
