The Gunners pulled off an impressive 3-2 victory over Liverpool on Sunday and two players have been singled out for their crucial roles in Mikel Arteta’s squad
Arsenal ended the weekend as they started it by sitting top of the Premier League following another huge win against Liverpool on Sunday, but attention will soon turn to Europa League duties once more.
However, plenty has been said on that morale-boosting win over the Reds, including plenty of praise for two players who have had crucial roles in Mikel Arteta’s side this season. Elsewhere, though, the Spaniard has been slammed for ‘influencing’ the referee on Sunday, while Takehiro Tomiyasu made a huge statement after shutting out Mohamed Salah.
Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal ’s Gabriel Martinelli and Thomas Partey have been singled out for their performances this season after shining for the Gunners in their 3-2 victory over Liverpool on Sunday as their claims for a Premier League title push took a serious turn.
Martinelli opened the scoring after just 58 seconds of the contest and laid on an assist for Bukayo Saka to make it 2-1, leading Arteta to label him as “outstanding” in his post-match press conference, while Match of the Day 2 pundit Danny Murphy said he was “relentless”.
But it was Partey who also received plenty of plaudits, having dominated the midfield ahead of Liverpool duo Thiago and Jordan Henderson, as the Ghanaian continues to show just why he can be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League when he’s fully fit and on form.

Was Jurgen Klopp right about some of the decisions awarded against his side on Sunday? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has slammed Arteta for pressuring referee Michael Oliver into giving Arsenal favourable decisions during Sunday's clash between the two sides.
Those included failing to award a penalty following an apparent handball by Gabriel and the decision to point to the spot when Gabriel Jesus was fouled by Thiago, but Klopp was especially enraged by Arteta's actions that led to Joe Gomez picking up a yellow-card for time-wasting.
Klopp claimed that the Spaniard was “having a go at the ref” for not booking Gomez, of which Michael Oliver then dished out a booking for the Reds defender, while a number of other decisions also went in Arsenal’s favour due to actions on the touchline.

Arsenal defender Tomiyasu shut down his own playing time admission on Sunday as he performed admirably in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool.
The Japanese international has found gametime hard to come by this season, previously stating that he is “not satisfied” with his lack of minutes so far this campaign, but after Arteta made a huge call to start him at left back in the absence of Oleksandr Zinchenko, the defender made the most of his opportunity.
That included shutting out Mohamed Salah throughout the entirety of the contest in north London, with Arteta delighted with his performance. The Spaniard said: "To think of doing that against Salah and actually do it is a very different story. He’s done it incredibly well, especially after playing on Thursday and what he’s been through in the last few weeks."
