The 23-year-old India National Cricket Team opening batsman Shubman Gill has said that he is “really looking forward to” representing the Indian team in next year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be the 13th edition of the marquee tournament, is scheduled to be hosted by India in October-November 2023.

Shubman Gill, who is currently part of India’s squad for the ongoing three-match ODI series against South Africa, said that he can only perform well and hope he gets selected in India’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 squad.
“Exciting times lie ahead. I am really looking forward to it (playing the ODI World Cup next year). As a player I can just give my best and hope that I am part of the team,” Shubman told Timesofindia.com in an interview.
“I would love to be a part of any World Cup team, be it for the T20 World Cup or the ODI World Cup. I just want to keep performing the way I have been. I am looking forward to it (being a part of the Indian ODI World Cup squad),” the 23-year-old further said.
Overall, Gill has scored 530 runs for India in 11 ODIs at an average of 58.89, including one century and three half-centuries.
During the same interview, Gill talked about his county cricket stint with Glamorgan and said it was an incredible experience for him. Gill, who is only the third Indian to play for Glamorgan after Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly, further said that the experience of playing county cricket helped him take his game to the next level.
“It was an incredible experience (playing county cricket). Playing in different conditions, especially overseas has helped my game. County cricket has helped me a lot. I got to learn a lot. The county experience is helping me take my game to the next level,” Shubman said.
