IndyCar champion Will Power has shared footage of a recent karting crash on social media.
Will Power has had a long wait to return to IndyCar glory, last winning the title back in 2014, but the Australian ended his title drought this year with his second IndyCar championship victory.
The 41-year-old only won a single race over the course of the season, but his 12 top five finishes were enough to fend off his rivals, including ex-Formula 1 driver Marcus Ericsson and new McLaren reserve driver Alex Palou.
Power has had an IndyCar career plagued with injuries, struggling with issues with his back on multiple occasions over the course of his illustrious career.
The most significant of these injuries can in 2011, when a shocking multi-car pile up tragically saw Dan Wheldon lose his life, and Power fracture his fourth thoracic vertebra.

The Australian will now be sweating about making the start of the 2023 season to defend his title, after he has released footage of a karting crash that has seen the driver break multiple ribs.
The footage shows Power racing against two other drivers, when contact from one of his opponents sends his kart spinning and flipping off the track, ejecting the 41-year-old onto the grass in a violent manner.
“This was a race a few weeks ago… Got some broken ribs but was ok otherwise,” said the Australian on social media, reassuring his fans that no significant injuries were picked up from the incident.
The start of the 2023 season is in over three months’ time, so Power will hoping that he can make a full recovery in time to start preparations for his title defending season.

The IndyCar veteran has been racing in IndyCar since 2008, competing in a stunning 238 races over the course of his career, winning 39 of them.
Power had initially looked set for a career in Formula 1 before moving over to become an IndyCar icon, having driven in Formula Three and the Renault World Series, alongside even testing a Formula 1 car back in the early 2000’s.
Team Penske will be hoping that their driver shakes off his karting accident with no long term effects, as the team look to mount a back-to-back title charge for the first time in Power’s career.
