Canes Record: 13-6-5 (31 Points, 2nd, Metropolitan Division)
Canes Last Game: 6-4 Win over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday, December 1

Kings Record: 13-9-4 (30 Points, 3rd, Pacific Division)
Kings Last Game: 5-3 Win over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, December 1

Last Time Out: Five minutes into the second period Thursday night in St. Louis the Canes trailed 2-0. Jordan Binnington already had registered a half-dozen high danger saves and it looked as if coming from behind may be a difficult challenge for the visitors. Then, within a span of 64 seconds, Rod Brind’Amour’s club was able to beat him three times to rapidly swing the game in their favor. The Blues had a response to equalize the game once more, but Jordan Martinook struck twice in the third period to cement Carolina’s fourth hat trick of the season and push the team’s victory to 6-4. Pyotr Kochetkov earned the win in net after entering in relief of Antti Raanta, who had allowed three goals on 15 shots through the first two periods.

Marty Party: Thursday’s hat trick for Jordan Martinook was his first since November 23, 2018. Now with seven goals on the season, he only trails only Andrei Svechnikov (14), Martin Necas (11) and Sebastian Aho (9) on the team and has surpassed his 2021-22 season total of 6.

On A Run: Seth Jarvis extended his season-long point streak to four games on Thursday night, recording a goal during the second period. Martin Necas, who also scored in the contest, has recorded a point in three consecutive games.

500 For Pesc: Just four days after Jordan Martinook played in his 500th NHL game, Brett Pesce will reach the same milestone tonight.  Selected by Carolina in the third round (66th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Pesce would become the 14th player and fifth defenseman from his draft class to reach the number.

Almost Turbo Time?: Forward Teuvo Teravainen was activated off of injured reserve Friday evening, signifying that he is one step closer to returning to the lineup. His status for tonight’s game is to be determined. The 28-year-old winger suffered a non-concussion upper-body injury on November 10 in the team’s win over Edmonton and has since missed 10 games. Teravainen has taken part in each practice and morning skate this week with the team.

Doing Something Different: The Canes will not hold a morning skate ahead of tonight’s game. Any lineup information will come from Rod Brind’Amour at approximately 8:15 p.m. EST.

On The Other Side: Only the Dallas Stars (93) and New Jersey Devils (90) have scored more goals than the Kings (89) thus far this season. While that sounds great, only the Anaheim Ducks (100), have allowed more than them (93). Forward Kevin Fiala leads the team with 28 points in 26 games this season, one that has been filled with inconsistency for the club.

What Are We Wearing?: The Canes are slated to wear their white uniforms tonight and for each game on this road trip.
The team will have an off day on Sunday and practice Monday before taking on the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.
